Water Conservation Measures

Although, the State of California is remains in the drought conditions as stated by the Gov. Schwarzenegger on February 27, 2009, the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) has declared that water deliveries to our wholesale surface water supplier will be 100 percent of full USBR contract amounts this year. Therefore, the FOWD Board of Directors at their meeting on June 8, 2009 adopted Resolution No. 0904 declaring Stage One- Normal Water Supply within the Fair Oaks Water District service area. FOWD urges our customers to continue maximizing the efficient use of all water supplies.

Here are Easy Ways You Can Save Water

Did you know ... a toilet leak that goes unnoticed can waste 7,500 gallons of water each month.
  • When watering your yard, make sure the water is applied only to the areas that need it (not the sidewalk or driveway).
  • Use a broom or rake instead of hosing down driveways and sidewalks.
  • Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full.
  • Repair leaks in toilets, irrigation systems, hoses and bathroom fixtures.
  • Don’t use the toilet as a wastebasket.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • Install low flow shower heads and faucet aerators.
  • Don’t leave the water running while brushing your teeth.
