Annual Poster Calendar Contest
Each Winter, local Fourth, Fifth and Sixth graders are invited to participate in the “Fair Oaks Water District Annual Poster Calendar Contest.”  The participating students are given a theme related to conservation, and are then asked to create a poster based on that chosen theme.  The posters are judged by Fair Oaks Water District staff, who select three winners from all of the entries.  Each winner receives a savings bond, and their class receives a one hundred dollar award for classroom supplies.  The three top winners are then judged separately by the San Juan Family of Water Agencies, competing for “Grand Prize” (the cover of our Annual Calendar). However, all of our winners are featured in the Fair Oaks Water District Annual Poster Calendar.  We are pleased to announce that Hannah Martel, our 3rd place winner, was selected as the Grand Prize winner.

Congratulations to the 2007 Contest Winners!

Fair Oaks Spring Fest

Fair Oaks Water District participates annually in the Fair Oaks Spring Fest Event.

Presented annually by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce The Fair Oaks “Spring Fest” takes place each May, and is located in the Old Fair Oaks Village.

Each year at the “Spring Fest,” the Fair Oaks Water District offers attendees and customers great water saving ideas and devices. Please come by and visit our booth in the park at next year’s “Spring Fest !”

FOWD is the proud sponsor of the annual toilet bowl race event during Spring Fest days. Along with local entries such as the Sacramento County Sheriffs Dept., California Highway Patrol, Fair Oaks Cemetery District and the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District, we have quite a few brave residents who participate every year. If you're interested in joining the fun, contact us for information on entering the race.

Fair Oaks Water District Raises Over $4,000 during Relay for Life

On June 2-3, 2007, FOWD and Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District teamed-up to participate in the Fifth Annual American Cancer Society's  "Relay for LIfe." The event is a 24-hour community race for those dedicated to finding a cure for cancer and was held at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks.  The FOWD volunteers took shifts, running and walking around the school's track nonstop for a full 24 hours, ultimately raising over $4,000 in donations and pledges for their efforts.

As the Fair Oaks Water District is dedicated to its employees and the community , we were proud to assemble a team to participate and raise money for the cause and cure for cancer.  FOWD looks forward to fielding an even larger team next year!

Eppie's Great Race - The "World's Oldest Triathlon" - is a regional community tradition that funds various programs benefiting the disabled in Sacramento County.  Eppie's Great Race includes a 5.82 mile run, 12.5 mile bike and 6.35 mile paddle.  Athletes can compete in all three disciplines as an individual, or forge a relay team.  FOWD is encouraging Staff and Directors to compete as both in 2007.  All events are held along the scenic American River Parkway, on Saturday July 21, 2007.  We look forward to a little friendly competition with our customers, or for our customers' loud cheers of support.
